20/20 vision with LASIK
Posted in LASIK Surgery on December 12, 2008
Perfect 20/20 eyesight is what most people who have glasses wish for and now with the help of LASIK, it is possible for you to get your perfect vision back. LASIK stands for laser assisted in situ keratomileusis. It is perfect for those who want to get rid of their glasses or contact lenses. LASIK works on the cornea, reshaping it to provide perfect vision.
Your doctor will probably conduct tests to check if you are a suitable candidate for this procedure as LASIK cannot be performed on everyone. Do not worry. Most people are suitable candidates.
During the procedure, the laser cuts a flap in the cornea in order to reshape it. This flap is then carefully covered to prevent dust or other particles from entering. Post surgery, the patient is advised to wear sunglasses for a short while to avoid direct contact with sunlight or bright light.
Make sure that if you go for LASIK, you understand the preoperative and postoperative terms and requirements and though this surgery will require you to spend a certain amount, it is a small price to pay for your vision. The money you will save on glasses and contact lenses and other accessories will more than make up for the cost of laser surgery.
