An insight into the procedure of Lasik eye surgery

Laser-Assisted-In-Situ-Keratomileusis- otherwise known as LASIK- is currently one of the most popular and frequently performed eye surgery procedures in the world. Lasik eye surgery involves using a cool laser beam to smoothly reshape the corneal surface of the eye.

Compared to many other methods of eye surgery, Lasik has a relatively quick surgery time and speedy recovery period, which are generally seen as the biggest benefits of the procedure. The Lasik surgery procedure involves:

Preparation: In order to minimise the pain during the surgical procedure, anaesthetic drops are applied to the eye.

Flap creation: A protective flap is created by the surgeon and then lifted to expose the inner corneal tissue.

Reshaping of the cornea: For reshaping the inner layers of the cornea, computerised pulses of cool laser light are applied. By reshaping the inner corneal layer with laser beams, a range of eye problems can be corrected. LASIK completion: The surgeon replaces the corneal flap and puts it back into its original place. The healing process will then begin.

So if youre tired of constantly wearing glasses or contact lenses, then Lasik eye surgery could be the solution.
