Before going through LASIK surgery, one must definitely go to an eye care professional and find out whether he or she is eligible physically for the surgery. The experts can gauge, through certain tests whether one can go ahead with the procedure or not.

There are certain circumstances that will need to be looked into for they might require additional care or hamper ones eligibility for LASIK surgery.

  • First and foremost, one has to be over 18 years of age to undergo LASIK surgery.
  • Also medical case history will be looked into to find out more about the candidates eyes.
  • The candidate should have no history of eye disease and certain eye viruses. They must also not have had a history of certain health problems such as uncontrollable diabetes, autoimmune or collagen vascular disease.
  • The patient must also inform their doctor about any eye problems faced, such as severe dry eyes, previous eye surgery and the lazy eye syndrome, to name a few. These factors may affect the surgery or recovery and in some cases, even both.
It is also imperative that the candidate should not have had to change their prescription for spectacles for at least one year.
