Are you bored of wearing contact lenses and glasses? If your answer is yes, then you should opt for LASIK eye surgery. Nowadays, many people are opting for laser eye surgery because it is painless and offers quick results.

The eye surgeon will evaluate your eyes and then he/she will determine the health of your cornea. The shape of your cornea will determine the type of laser that will be used in the surgery. If you wear soft contact lenses then it is recommended to stop wearing them for at least 2-3 weeks before the surgery. This is very important, because the lenses change the shape of the cornea. Before undergoing laser eye surgery, it is important to know some things about the surgery.

What is involved in LASIK eye surgery?

LASIK surgery is a procedure where advanced lasers are used to reshape the cornea and so correct your vision. During the laser eye surgery, the doctor will cut a corneal flap with the help of a microkeratome. The flap is folded back and then the laser is used to reshape the cornea. After the surgery, the flap is placed into its original position and left to heal naturally.

One of the best things about laser eye surgery is that the whole process is computerised which means that there is no chances of any error. To protect your eyes from dust and light, it is recommended to wear a protective shield/eyewear for 2-3 days following the surgery. If you experience some pain or itching after the surgery you can use some eye drops which will be prescribed by the surgeon.
