Do away with those lenses and spectacles

For those of you with large glasses or irritating lenses, we have a solution for you - LASIK. If you have poor eyesight, you have probably heard of LASIK but do you know exactly what LASIK is?
LASIK stands for laser assisted in situ keratomileusis. For those who are looking to repair their eyesight, LASIK must be your first option. Using lasers, your doctor will reshape your cornea. This is necessary because vision problems are as a result of an irregularly shaped cornea.
Do not think of this process as being excruciating or very painful, as with the help of eye anaesthetic you do not feel a thing.
In LASIK surgery, your cornea is re-shaped and the additional, unnecessary cells are removed with the help of lasers. A corneal flap, which is cut beforehand with the help of lasers, is then put back in place and sits heals as per the natural process.
However, do not get too enthusiastic. Not all vision problems can be solved. Those with myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism are curable; however, LASIK cannot cure or prevent presbyopia, an age-related vision problem.
