Myopia: Myopia is a medical term for short sightedness, which makes you incapable of focussing on a distant object, hence it appears very blurred. Myopia is a common eye defect for many and is caused when eyeballs are elongated, the cornea is too curved or light from distant objects focuses in front of the retina. Myopia makes objects look blurred or fuzzy. The condition of myopia is generally developed either in childhood or adolescence.

Hyperopia: Hyperopia is a medical term for long sightedness which makes you incapable of focussing on nearby objects. This situation gets worse with the passage of time as you get older. Hyperopia occurs when the eyeball is too short in relation to the focusing power of the lens and cornea. In such a situation the light rays travel back to the retina before they have been bent by the lens and the cornea. As a result, nearby objects appear blurred to the person suffering from this eye defect.

Laser eye surgery treats both myopia and hyperopia to give you brighter and clearer eyesight.
