You should consult an ophthalmologist who will first determine whether you are the right candidate for the procedure. Most patients qualify for the surgery. Some cases however may not be considered ideal.

The primary requirement for anyone to qualify for the surgery is that they should be 18 years or older. The minimum age requirement is because the eye is not mature enough till the age of 18.

Prior to the operation Prior to the surgery, you need to plan some things in advance. Your vision should be stable for at least a year in order that the LASIK surgery can be performed. You may also be disqualified as a candidate if you have had any infections or problems with your eyes recently.
