Laser eye surgery is a treatment that is brief and almost painless. After undertaking laser eye surgery, the patient wakes up to find that he/she can see the world perfectly without wearing any glasses or lenses. However, it must always be remembered that laser eye surgery sculpts the tissues of the cornea and thus the healing process of the eye tissues must not be interrupted in any way.
After undergoing laser eye surgery, patients are usually permitted to get back to their normal life within 2-4 days. But, certain precautionary measures must be taken. The patients must always use sunglasses indoors as well as outdoors after going through laser eye surgery.
The sunglasses guard direct exposure of the eyes to high intensity light which might otherwise harm the eye tissues which are in the process of healing. Care must also be taken to ensure that the retina or the eyes are not hurt physically in any way. Thus, it is better to refrain from active exercise or physical games during the recovery period.
For the same reason many doctors also suggest that their patients wear special eye protection when they go to sleep. Taking the medication as prescribed by the doctor is a must. Finally, it is better to drink a lot of water as it keeps the body perfectly hydrated and lessens the irritation in the eyes.
These few simple precautions will help heal the eyes quickly and will allow the patient to live a perfectly normal life with the right eyesight
