LASIK or laser eye surgery is a treatment designed to treat vision problems such as astigmatism, myopia (short-sightedness) and hyperopia (long-sightedness). Undergoing this treatment will allow you to live your entire life without depending on glasses or contact lenses. Laser eye surgery basically uses a special laser to alter the shape of your cornea.

How does laser eye surgery work?

Usually, laser eye surgery takes just 30 minutes. This treatment takes place in the clinic and the patient is asked to rest on a reclining chair. A few drops of anaesthetic are applied to the patients eye and a lid spectrum is used to hold the eyelids open.

Later, the actual process of laser eye surgery starts. In this process, the cornea is reshaped to offer better eyesight to the patient. During the entire procedure of laser eye surgery, the patient will not experience any type of discomfort or any feeling of pain. The patient is allowed to go home as soon as the procedure is over. In fact, when undertaking laser eye treatment, the patient does not have to be hospitalised after or prior to the surgery. However, it is advisable to take rest for at least a couple of days after the treatment. Some of the precautions to be taken by the patient include avoiding too much strain on the eyes through excess reading, direct exposure to light, etc.

Within approximately 48 hours the patient will experience effective results. At this point they will be able to see clearly without depending on contact lenses or glasses. Opt for LASIK and bid farewell to glasses and lenses.
