Impaired vision and its early symptoms

Vision changes and other problems can be caused by the following conditions:

Presbyopia: This is a common complaint of the elderly who find it difficult to focus on objects that are close. Cataracts: The lens of the eye causes poor night vision, halos around light and sensitivity to glare. Old age is one of the main causes for this condition. Glaucoma: This is caused due to increased pressure on the eye. This condition causes poor night vision, blind spots and loss of vision on either side. This is a serious condition which can lead to total blindness. Diabetic retinopathy: This condition is common in diabetic people, and can even cause complete blindness. Macular degeneration: This is caused in old age with loss of central vision, blurred vision and distorted vision. Retinal detachment: symptoms include floaters, or flashes of light across visual field. Optic neuritis: Inflammation of the optic nerve due to infection or multiple sclerosis.

Individuals seeking vision correction now opt for Lasik eye surgery. It is considered one of the safest and quickest procedures since it does not make use of a blade during the surgical procedure, and the healing is faster.
