Laser surgery is a safe eye treatment
Posted in Laser Eye Surgery on September 24, 2008
Eye laser surgery is now becoming popular among everyone, not just celebrities who have thrown away their spectacles in an effort to look younger. Sir Elton John, the world famous singer and composer, is one of them.
The heavy reduction in the cost of this operation is a major contributory factor why more and more people are going for it. However, Lasik surgery is not for all types of patients. One has to be a healthy adult to undergo this operation successfully. Those whose eyesight has drastically changed in the previous twelve months are not recommended for this procedure. Diabetes and arthritis patients are also barred from these operations as are pregnant ladies.
Eye laser surgery is approved by the UK Government because they are considered safe. A doctor is expected to advise patients about the possibility of some complications after the procedure as is the case with any type of surgery. One must follow the doctors recommendations for a speedy recovery after Lasik eye surgery. Often, doctors prescribe antibiotics so that no infection occurs.
Good care must be taken during the recovery period. The use of shampoo and soap over the head should be avoided at least for a few days.
