Lasik eye surgery cures most vision problems

Lasik eye surgery was first used in 1997. Since then it has helped millions change the way they see things. It helps reduce a person's dependency on glasses or contact lenses.
LASIK stands for Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis. Its a procedure that permanently changes the way you see things (we mean it literally!). Using an excimer laser the surgeons change the shape of the cornea based on your eye defect. This helps individuals see better and live without glasses or contact lenses.
Lasik eye surgery can cure most vision problems. One of the main vision problems is Short Sightedness (Myopia). This occurs when the cornea is too steep to focus light onto the retina. This in turn, causes poor distant vision. This eye problem is even referred to as near-sightedness.
The other common eye problem is Long Sightedness (Hyperopia). This eye problem occurs in case the cornea is too flat to focus the light on the retina. The light is focused behind the retina in turn, causing very poor near vision. This eye problem is also referred to as far-sightedness. But modern science has found a cure called eye surgery.
