LASIK eye Surgery - How to take care of your eyes after surgery?
Posted in LASIK Surgery on June 29, 2010
If you opt for LASIK (Laser Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis) eye surgery it would be good to know something about the healing process. The time to recover from LASIK eye surgery will depend on a few factors.
Given below are some steps that will help you recover quickly:
Keep in touch with your surgeon - Visit your surgeon for regular checkups. Follow-up appointments will help you get better results and it may determine the outcome of your surgery. This will also help you get rid of any unnecessary complications and will speed up your healing process.
After your surgery - Try to get enough rest after the surgery. Do not exert yourself after your surgery and do not rub or touch your eyes for the first 24 to 48 hours after your surgery. This will help your eye to heal and will protect your eye from debris.
Take proper medication - Stick to your medication schedule of using the prescribed eye drops. If you use the right medication your eyes will heal at a faster rate. Always keep your eye drops handy as this will help to prevent dryness and discomfort.
Wear a protective eye covering - You should cover your eyes while sleeping and use an eye shield for at least a week after your surgery. This will prevent you from accidentally damaging your eyes while you sleep. Also wear an eye shield while having a bath. This will decrease the chance of soap getting into your eyes.
Follow these tips after your laser eye treatment and take proper care of your eyes.
