LASIK eye surgery recuperation
Posted in LASIK Surgery on December 28, 2009
Like every other surgery, a person will need some time to recuperate after LASIK eye surgery. This period can vary from person to person. First, select a reputable surgeon to carry out the LASIK surgery. Read and research on everything that you need to know about the surgery and ask your operating doctor for answers.
During the operation, ask someone to stay with you. Do not drive back from the hospital. As some medications are given prior to the surgery, you may have to wait for a while after the surgery.
After the surgery, avoid sunlight as sunrays may harm the operated eye. In some patients, there may be some kind of irritation and pain after surgery. Let the doctor know about it so he can prescribe some medicines for it. Avoid washing your face for some days with soap or any facewash. The chemicals present in them may harm your eyes.
You should limit watching television, reading books or using computers for some time as these things strain the eyes. Playing sports or doing heavy work may also hamper the recuperation of the eye.
Visit the doctor for follow-ups as and when required. If you feel something is going wrong with your eye, consult the doctor immediately. As recovery in a LASIK eye surgery does not take a long time, it is possible to take all the necessary care and resume your work in a short span of time.
