Eye surgery with a blade or bladeless Lasik Surgery: which one is a better option? There is a unanimous verdict of eye surgeons the world over as to which of the two types of surgeries is more beneficial to patients. It is clearly the latter that they tend to believe is safer and more effective.
There are other problems in traditional surgery, such as a buttonhole flap can be formed, which is undesirable. This is overcome when the surgeon uses laser in eye surgeries. It has been established that the LASIK surgery provides better results compared to traditional eye surgeries with a blade. They are immensely helpful to those who suffer from major vision problems.
The blades or the microkerotome was used during traditional surgery to cut a hinge of the cornea and lift it to apply a special laser to correct vision problems. After the cornea is lasered the surgeon would then replace the flap.
The blade-free LASIK method is quicker and pain-free for patients. In the bladeless surgery only a laser is used. This reduces the complications of unattached or partial laps or improperly formed flaps during the corneal flap correction when compared with the microkeraome.
