Athletes are ready to go under the knife to enhance their vision beyond the mundane 20/20. Thousands of Irelands amateur golfers, rugby players and footballers are ready to shell out close to 3,000 Euros for eye surgery to get more than perfect vision.

A lot of fans are also following in the footsteps of their stars such as the golfer, Padraig Harrington, in order to improve their game. Eye surgery, though primarily meant for people with sight disorders, is now being used by athletes to gain competitive advantage. Players involved in games like golf or shooting, which involve seeing clearly over long distances, are now opting for 20/10 vision which gives them an advantage over people with 20/20 vision.

Eye surgeons have confirmed that a lot of people who are opting for laser surgeries are inspired by players like Noel Hickey, the Kilkenny hurling star and Ciaran Whelan, the Dublin midfielder, both of whom have had corrective surgery to enhance their vision.

The best example of eye surgery enhancing a persons game is none other than Tiger Woods, who lost 16 tournaments in a row before he got the corrective laser surgery. Right after this surgery, which gave him enhanced 20/15 vision, he won 7 of his next 10 tournaments.
