There are many people with impaired vision who would love to be able to get rid of their glasses and have correct vision. The only way of giving up glasses before was by using contact lenses. But now with advancements in technology, it has become possible to correct vision permanently within the eye itself. The process is called lasik vision correction.

Lasik eye surgery is a new medical technology that can cure defects in sight in a cost effective manner within a short period of time. This technique of vision correction is extremely safe and the patient can be sure of positive results. The lasik operation is performed in a matter of a few minutes, as all that has to be done is modifying the shape of the cornea through the use of a laser beam. The ultraviolet beams involved in lasik vision correction are known as excimer lasers.

The person undergoing the treatment is asked to stop wearing contact lenses about two weeks prior to the operation. The corneas of the person are examined before the operation to identify astigmatism or other abnormalities in the cornea. Once the operation is over, the patient has to undergo antibiotic treatment and has to use anti-inflammatory eye drops for a while. After the lasik eye surgery the patient is also advised to wear a pair of dark glasses to protect their eyes from light. The person can resume work within a couple of days.
