Post-operative care after laser eye surgery

Laser eye surgery is extremely beneficial for many people, and is a fantastic option for those who suffer from problems with their vision.

However, in order for the surgery to be successful you need to take special care after the surgery. Immediately after the laser eye surgery you need to take extra care of your eyes, in order to prevent infections. Your surgeon will probably prescribe anti-inflammatory eye drops and antibiotic medications. Dry eyes are a common problem with many patients. However, this problem can be remedied by applying lubricating eye drops.

Your eyes may feel a little itchy after the surgery, although you should try not to rub your eyes. For the first week, you may need to wear the wrap-around sunglasses when you go out in the daytime and you may need to wear protective goggles during the night, so that you do not rub your eyes accidentally in your sleep.

It is extremely important to protect your eyes from sunlight, as you may develop a corneal haze, which could lead to retinal damage.

Laser eye surgery is extremely effective- but only when you follow the correct aftercare procedure.
