Lasik is a very reliable and result-oriented solution for those who want to get rid of their glasses or contact lenses. Lasik is a procedure which can lessen an individuals reliance on glasses or contact lenses.

The procedure LASIK is an abbreviation for Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis. It is a procedure that alters the shape of the cornea, and where the flap in the cornea is incised with a laser. A flap is created, and the stroma is exposed when the flap is folded back. The flap is later replaced.

Requirements before the surgery

Once you have decided to go ahead with the surgery, you have to follow certain precautions in order to avoid infection. You often need to stop using creams, lotions and eye make-up, as using these products can n lead to infections during and after surgery.

You also need to stop wearing contact lenses a few weeks prior to the surgery. The number of weeks will be specified by the doctor depending on the type of lens you are wearing. After the surgery, it may take a few months for vision to stabilise, although results can be much quicker.
