Eyesight and moreso good eyesight is an important function of our body for a normal and happy well being. An examination of the eyes should be a routine part of everyones life. Often a small defect, if not detected in its early stages, can turn into something more serious. These are a few reasons why a regular examination is necessary:

1. God has given only us one pair of eyes which cannot be replaced. 2. Unlike teeth, there is no pain in the eye even when something is going wrong. 3. Early signs of ailments can be detected through the eyes, such as glaucoma. 4. Early detection can save a lot of trouble, especially for children and the elderly. 5. Sometimes other diseases can be detected through eye examination, such as high blood pressure and diabetes. 6. Sometimes if detected early enough, the problem can be solved by wearing glasses for a short time. 7. Good vision ensures a good quality of life. Poor vision, if uncorrected, can affect normal life in the office and at home. 8. Especially for children of a school age, the examination is very important because a problem can be detected earlier. 9. Sometimes bad eye sight is attributed to old age. However, even the elderly can have good vision if the proper corrective measures are taken. 10. Undetected, poor eyesight can be dangerous, for example, when driving.

Examination of eyes must be done at least every two years or as recommended by an optician.
