Many people, old and young, have vision related ailments and issues. These problems are not always detected easily as they develop over a period of time. Early detection can help to curtail the issues.
Cataracts are a common ailment experienced by older people. A cataract is a cloud that covers your lens which is usually clear. The lens of the eye focuses light on the retina, on which an image is formed. Cataracts make the image foggy and leave a person with cloudy vision.
Here are some symptoms of cataracts:
Foggy or cloudy vision Colours are not easy to detect Person starts seeing double images Night vision is greatly affected Highly sensitive to glaring light. Also aura or rings are seen around lights
Here is a broad classification of cataracts:
Ageing cataracts: These are most common in older people. Their vision is hampered due to cloudiness in the eyes. Congenital: This can occur in babies - often in both eyes. Secondary: This type is present in people who already have health issues like diabetes.
Cataracts can be prevented with good care of eyes. Your eyes should not be strained beyond what they can endure. Take good care of your eyes, particularly if you are using computers regularly. Make sure to rest them and dont let them dry out.
