The effect of computers on eyes

Posted in Eye Care on September 11, 2008

Many of us today cannot literally survive without a computer. Whether it is for serious work, chatting online or just casual browsing, most of us are hooked on our machines. Although the web technology has become more accessible over the years, what we do not realise is that constant surfing adversely affects our eyesight.

Many of us complain of irritation or discomfort of the eyes. This is mainly owing to eye fatigue. Also, poor lighting and improper placement of equipment make the problem even worse. While doing activities that put undue pressure on the eye, such as reading, watching television or using the computer, our eyes work hard to keep a clear focus. This results in fatigue. Also, not blinking your eyes at regular intervals results in dryness of the eyes with poor tear circulation.

As a result of not taking care of our eyes, a lot of us end up having poor eyesight. However, there is no reason to worry since one can resort to the latest vision correction methods. The safe and reliable Laser eye surgery corrects and improves vision. The eye surgery now only uses lasers, rather than blades. Surgeries with blades can be somewhat risky hence lasers make a better alternative.
