The steps involved in LASIK eye surgery

LASIK eye surgery is one of the most successful and popular treatments which help in reshaping the cornea and correcting vision. LASIK surgery can treat myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. If you want to get rid of glasses or contact lenses then consult an ophthalmologist immediately. He/she will test your eyes and then decide which type of treatment can be used for your eyes.

Before undergoing laser eye surgery, you must know what happens during the LASIK process. Here is some further information about LASIK eye surgery:

Creates a corneal flap First of all, the surgeon will apply anesthetic drops in your eyes and then use an instrument to keep them open for the surgery. A shield is used to cover and protect the other eye from lasers. To create a corneal flap in the eye, the surgeon uses a micorkeratome on the outer layer of your eyes.

Reshaping the cornea - Once the flap has been created by the surgeon then he/she will use a laser beam to reshape the cornea. The reshaping is performed and the whole procedure can be completed within a few minutes.

Replacing the flap After the cornea is reshaped by the surgeon then the flap is placed back to its original position. Unlike other vision correcting methods, laser surgery treatment does not involve any stitches. The healing process is done naturally.

Once the whole process is completed then make sure that you are using eye drops and protective shields for quick results.
