Having a laser eye surgery is one of the best ways to solve your vision problem and end your reliance on reading glasses or contact lenses. Laser eye surgery is pain free, provides long lasting results and is quite safe. Laser eye surgery is increasingly gaining importance as a preferred way to correct vision. However before you decide to opt for laser eye surgery it is important to find out the various options that are available to you.

LASIK or Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis is the most well known kind of laser operated eye treatment. This surgery works by cutting open a flap in the cornea and reshaping it by removing the tissue. It is a relatively fast procedure and a stark improvement in vision is seen as soon as two or three days after the operation.

CK or Conductive Keratoplasty is a relatively new procedure but highly successful nonetheless. Conductive Keratoplasty uses radio frequency energy applied with a thin device for reshaping the cornea. This is a very efficient method of vision correction. Healing after going through Conductive Keratoplasty is also fairly quick.

PRK or Photo Refractive Keratectomy is the method of vision correction by utilising a LASER, this type of vision correction procedure has been around the longest. Cells are removed from the cornea to reshape them and hence, improve the vision. This surgery has an average healing time of about a month and the vision improves gradually.

You should consult a reputed Ophthalmologist, before you choose laser eye surgery.
