Short-sightedness (Myopia): Blurring of distance vision occurs when light is focused in front of the retina. This condition is called short sightedness. In this case, near vision is always clear. This condition usually develops in childhood or adolescence and usually noticed while studying at school.
Long sightedness (Hypermetropia): When light is focused behind the retina instead of on it, focusing becomes difficult for the eye and the eye has to make a compensating effort to refocus. This causes discomfort for the eye and results in headache and problems with near vision. For this condition, glasses are to be worn for close work, reading, writing or use of computer.
Astigmatism: This condition occurs when the curvature of the cornea or lens is not perfectly round. Sometimes it is said that the eye is shaped like a rugby ball instead of a football.
Presbyopia: When there is a focusing disability due to old age it is called presbyopia. The lens loses flexibility due to the advancement of age and therefore this condition appears. An optometrist will give proper advice for wearing glasses to overcome this problem.
With prescription pills and glasses or contact lenses, you will just get temporary relief. On the other hand, the Lasik eye surgery provides guaranteed results and it is possible you can get a complete cure for your eyesight problems in a painless, precise manner.
