What should you consider before opting for LASIK?
Posted in LASIK Surgery on August 17, 2010
LASIK treats a wide range of refractive vision problems with very few side effects. It is a very safe and effective procedure. However, precautions should be taken when opting for LASIK. Here are some important things to look into before undergoing the procedure.
Selecting your surgeon
Check that the surgeon and clinic which you opt for have proper licensing and authorisation. The background and success rate of the surgeon should also be considered. Also make sure the clinic which you choose has the most up-to-date equipment.
Consult your doctor
Before opting for LASIK, consult your doctor. The doctor will test you and check if you are eligible for the procedure. Your present medical condition, past illnesses, scarring of the cornea and consumption of any prescription pills will be taken into consideration. Opt for LASIK only after you get the all-clear from your doctor.
Precautions to take after LASIK
Avoid strenuous activities after the procedure, and water contact should be minimal. You should also avoid rubbing the eyes as this can affect the healing process. Administer any eye drops which are prescribed by the surgeon on a regular basis.
Bear these things in mind, and experience successful LASIK.
