Treatment for cataracts
Cataracts are an ageing condition which eventually affect almost everyone. The natural lens of the eye becomes gradually clouded causing blurring of vision (rather like a window that is frosted or fogged with steam), which cannot be corrected with glasses.
The treatment involves removing the eye’s natural lens and positioning an artificial lens in its place. This artificial lens then acts like a contact lens inside the eye.
Ultralase offer a treatment for cataracts that uses state-of-the-art lenses, which are selected for each individual based upon their prescription and lifestyle requirements from the lens.
There are a wide range of lenses that can be used, including multi-focal and accommodating lenses, which both correct distance vision and assist with reading vision.
Cataract procedures are available through the NHS, but many patients prefer to choose an appointment to suit them, and to have the benefits of these more sophisticated correcting lenses.
