LASEK or LASIK laser eye surgery

Which laser eye treatment is right for you?

LASIK and LASEK are both highly effective laser eye treatment techniques which address individual irregularities on your corneas.

Well folks after my consultation on Monday, where I was sure that they would say that I was not able to have LASIK, I have been deemed suitable! As I write this I can't quite believe it. I have been wearing glasses since I was 10 and have a prescription of -10. So there is hope for all of us!

They are performed with anaesthetic eye drops to prevent pain during the procedure. These vision correction treatments are usually carried out on both eyes at the same visit, and you will only be in the treatment room for around 20 minutes, with the laser being applied for only a matter of minutes.

Some people may only be found suitable for either LASEK or LASIK laser eye surgery, whereas some people may be suitable for both, in which case you could choose which one you prefer. The only way to find out for sure which you are suitable for is to have a FREE eye surgery consultation where your personal advisor will discuss your options.

LASIK

With LASIK laser eye surgery, the surface of the cornea is lifted then replaced after the laser has been applied. Most people return to work within 48 hours and it is estimated that over 31 million people have undergone this laser eye treatment worldwide.

LASIK laser eye treatments use a cool laser to delicately reshape the cornea to ensure that the eye's focal point is correct. LASIK is surprisingly quick and is suitable for most prescriptions.

Here at Ultralase, we don't use blades during our LASIK laser eye surgery; we use IntraLase® eye lasers. These lasers permit a faster healing process, significantly reduce the risk of complication and deliver outstanding laser eye surgery results. IntraLase® is a very, very fine laser which is used to create a flap in the protective layer of the cornea in preparation for laser eye surgery.

Ultralase is the ONLY national vision correction clinic network to move completely away from the use of blades in all LASIK laser eye surgery treatments.

LASEK

Perfect eyesight from the second I got off the chair & no pain at all during the LASEK procedure and for the first hour thereafter. So glad I went ahead!

With LASEK laser eye surgery, the protective surface of the cornea is softened and then folded aside. The laser then reshapes the layer beneath. The surface is then smoothed back into place and a special contact lens is placed on the eye for 5-7 days while the protective layer heals.

You can expect to be in the treatment room for no more than around 20 minutes. This vision correction treatment is usually recommended if you have an active lifestyle or unusually shaped corneas.

LASEK and LASIK laser eye surgery treatments are available from just £995 per eye, and a wide range of payment plans are available starting from as little as £5.18 per week.
