Sukumaran Ramanathan

Sukumaran Ramanathan, laser eye surgeon

Mr Ramanathan graduated as a doctor in 1977. He had his training in Ophthalmology at the Royal Eye Hospital, Manchester and became a registrar at the Glasgow Eye Infirmary. Following this, he was appointed Consultant Ophthalmologist at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Saudi Arabia. On his return to the UK, he held the position of Consultant Ophthalmologist at Watford General Hospital, Hertfordshire, and in 1993 he joined the staff at the Royal Eye Unit, Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey. Mr Ramanathan joined Ultralase in 2004 and is a professional affiliate of the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons and the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons. Mr Ramanathan has performed over 9,000 laser eye surgery procedures.

Mr Ramanathan is author of numerous papers, including:

  • "Refractive Surgery in Non-Corneal Astigmatism", presented at the ESCRS Conference in Nice (September 1998)

  • "Corneal Topography", presented at a symposium on PRK at the ASCRS Conference in Boston (April 1997)
