Mr Mark Wevill
Mr Wevill is a specialist eye surgeon and has now been a qualified doctor for more than 22 years. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1995 and has been recognised as a Specialist in ophthalmology by the UK's General Medical Council since 2001. Mr Wevill is a fully accredited laser eye surgeon holding the "Certification in Refractive Surgery" qualification from the prestigious Royal College of Ophthalmologists after under-going strict assessment in surgical skills and patient management. He has immense experience and over the last 13 years has performed more than 13,000 laser eye surgery treatments.
In addition to laser eye surgery he also has a special interest in cataract and intra-ocular surgery having performed more than in excess of 2,000 such procedures in his career to date. Mr Wevill is an internationally recognised opinion leader in refractive surgery. He has written and presented numerous scientific papers across the world including at both the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Congress and their official Journal "Eye". Mr Wevill was appointed to the Global Advisory Panel of Bausch and Lomb, the trusted world leader in Eye Health with a 156 year heritage. He was one of only 2 UK treating surgeons to be asked to present at the respected global eye health giant AMO at their 2008 Invitational Conference in St. Moritz (the other being the Director of Refractive Surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital).
He was awarded a Commendation from the University of Ulster in their Refractive Surgery Qualification. He is a visiting Lecturer at Aston University, Birmingham, has reviewed more than 30 scientific papers for the respected journal "Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery" as well as contributing to other articles and books dedicated to the pursuit of clinical excellence in eye care.
A highly prolific and respected clinical authority, Mr Wevill's work has immensely benefitted laser patients. Mr Wevill has relentlessly pursued correct standards for surgeons performing laser surgery and has also trained numerous eye surgeons in laser eye surgery.
There are just 54 surgeons in the UK and Ireland who have attained the Royal College Certification in laser eye surgery. Mr Wevill is justifiably proud to be one of them.
