Emma Douglas-Smith - Head of Human Resources

Emma joined Ultralase as Head of Human Resources and as a member of the Management Committee in April 2008, to develop and strengthen the People Management strategies and Human Resources function within the business.

Emma has over 20 years experience in general management and as a HR Generalist, working in large blue chip and SME organisations. Prior to joining Ultralase in 2008, Emma spent the prior 6 years working as a professional HR Interim Consultant working on large scale projects such as change management, and £multi-million systems implementations, in organisations such as Nestle Rowntree, Orange Mobile and Wolseley Corporation. Emma's broad sector experience as a HR Generalist spans Manufacturing & Engineering, Printing Industry, Telecommunications & IT, and Construction & Logistics.

Emma is a strong believer in continued development and learning and has gained Chartered Fellow status of her professional body the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

Outside of work, Emma is keen on out-doors pursuits such as hill-walking and cycling, she is also a keen equestrian, riding whenever possible, enjoys travel and touring, particularly by motorbike. Emma also enjoys watching sport and follows Rugby Union, and relaxing with friends over a nice meal and bottle of wine.
