LOOKING AT THE ALTERNATIVES TO LASER SURGERY

Not every patient is suitable for Lasik or other laser refractive surgery. However we can offer other surgical options as an excellent alternative:

Implantable Contact Lenses - to correct very extreme refractive errors or when laser treatment is not the best choice for you

Clear Lens Extraction - replacement with a prescription lens to correct almost any refractive error, even if you currently wear bi-focal or multi-focal glasses

Presbyopic Lens Exchange - to correct near vision problems when you've lost the ability to focus on things close to you.

CATARACT EYE CARE

A cataract is a natural clouding of the lens in the eye and is often compared to a window that is frosted or fogged with steam.

Cataracts can only be treated with surgery but if your symptoms are mild, a change of glasses may be all you need to give you some improvement.

Would you like to be independent from glasses following cataract surgery? Ask about multi-focal lenses.

EYE LID CARE

The Allclear Clinic offers specialist treatments for your eyelids and the area around your eye to correct a range of irritating or painful conditions. Eyelid treatments on offer at Allclear include:-

  • Blepharoplasty - also known as an eyelid lift
  • Eye Brow Lift - eyebrows lifted by either injection or surgery
  • Ptosis Surgery - to lift drooping eyelids
  • Entropion Surgery - corrects an in-turning eyelid
  • Ectropion Surgery - corrects an eyelid which is turned out
  • Wrinkle Reduction Injections - help to relieve fine lines and wrinkles
  • Removal of Eyelid Cysts and Tumours - Many can be treated under local anaesthesia
  • Watering Eyes - a common problem which can be surgically corrected at Allclear.

MACULAR EYE CARE

AGE RELATED MACULAR DEGENERATION (AMD) This condition is the most frequent cause of visual loss in patients over the age of 60. It is due to 'wear and tear' affecting the macula. The condition increases with age.

There are two types of macular degeneration:

WET AMD
This is the least common type accounting for 10%. It is due to a small bleed under the macula with subsequent leaking of fluid, so called "wet". This causes distortion of straight lines, difficulty reading and blind areas in the central vision.

Ask our staff about the new drug treatments available. With the new advances in drug treatment the disease can be arrested from deteriorating and vision improves in up to one third of patients.

DRY AMD
This is the most common type accounting for 90%. It occurs gradually and is less severe. Patients with AMD will experience visual loss, however, this will never be complete, as the peripheral vision is spared. Unfortunately, there is currently no treatment available for dry AMD.

What do our
customers think?

"Truly remarkable! What a difference it makes to be free of glasses..."
