Dr Sajjad Mughal

Dr Sajjad Mughal studied medicine in Ninewells Hospital and the Medical School in Dundee, Scotland, before qualifying in 1992.
He completed his pre-registration in the Midlands and moved on as a Senior House Officer in neurosurgery at the Wessex Neurological Centre.
During this tenure, he was able to gain experience in ocular trauma, phacoemulsification cataract surgery, the management of diabetic retinoplathy and glaucoma.
In 1994, Dr Mughal started his ophthalmic training, gaining his diploma and membership in Opthalmology from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 1997 and again in 2002. In 1995, he also went on to achieve his MSc degree in Investigative Ophthalmology and Vision Science from the University of Manchester as well as basic surgical training in the Midlands.
Between 1997 and 1999, Dr Mughal was able to gain experience with the use of ARGON and the Nd: YAG lasers.
When he is not working with Ultralase and Optimax, his recent NHS posts have included Halifax Royal Infirmary, Bradford Royal Infirmary and Scarborough General Hospital in Yorkshire.
His special interest in corneal refractive laser surgery came after he completed the Online Refractive Surgery Programme with distinction in June 2006.
Dr Mughal joined the Group in 2007, and has obtained certification in refractive surgery from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
