Dr Samer Hamada
MD MSc DO (Hons) FRCSed FRCOphth, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon
Dr Hamada is an experienced Consultant Ophthalmologst and Corneal surgeon, with an interest in severe corneam eye surface diseases and modern technique cataract surgery.
His medical training was undertaken at the West Midlands School of Ophthalmology, and has completed fellowships in various disciplines in many of the UK's leading eye centres.
Dr Hamada's areas of expertise lies in laser refractive surgery, lens (non-laser) refractive surgery, cataract surgery, intraocular lens (multifocal, toric and phakic) procedures and the management of complications in laser surgery. He has performed over 2000 cataract surgeries.
With various qualifications in cataract and refractive surgery, Dr Hamada also has a Master's degree from Ulster University, and has undertaken fellowship training from many international eye centres.
In 2013, Dr Hamada received the Achievement award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr Hamada is currently a consultant eye surgeon at the Corneoplastic Unit at the Queen Victoria Hospital as well as Honorary Consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
He has attained the fellowships from the following:
- The Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London
- The Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh
- The International Society of Refractive Surgery
- The American Academy of Ophthalmology
Dr Hamada is active in discovering and developing innovative ways to manage patients with corneal diseases, speaks regularly as conferences and has also been published several times, contributing to peer-reviewed journals on a regular basis.
